Overview
I trained as a copyeditor with the Society of Editors and Proofreaders in 2015 and started my copyediting business the same year.
Since then, I have have worked on numerous projects for high-profile French institutions, such as the CNRS, the Sorbonne, INRAP, INALCO and Musée du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac. As well as international organizations in Canada, the USA and the UK.
The work I do ranges from non-fiction/academic books to journal papers to press releases. It's an eclectic mix, but working on a variety of texts has helped me define how to communicate effectively with particular audiences.
Prior to editing, I worked as a field archaeologist for Durham University's commercial unit (ASDU), having graduated from Durham with a BA (Hons) in archaeology in 2007. My main expertise, therefore, lies in environmental archaeology, although I have also extensive experience in anthropology, history and natural sciences.
Twelve years' experience as a copyeditor has taught me that all successful projects require three things – flexibility, communication and creativity. Oh, and hitting deadlines - that goes without saying!
