Jeremy Hauck

Jeremy Hauck – Editor

Editor of how-tos, eco gardening, & reference books. Proofreader of books by Penguin Random House.

Overview

After working five years full-time in book publishing, including proofreading the output of Penguin Random House and Abrams, I've gone solo as a freelancer and am accepting clients.

Developmental edits: guidebooks, reference, children's books, and how-tos, illustrated or text-only—I can help organize and arrange projects that need to be especially reader-friendly so they can be used in the field, or read by children. Of special interest to me are nature-based projects like hiking guides, gardening guides, or illustrated books about the natural world.

Copy edits: Nonfiction and fiction—I've copy-edited memoirs before, and I have an MFA in fiction from Temple University. In addition, I've been teaching freshmen college composition off and on since 2012. Expect my feedback to be thorough and holistic.

Proofreading: I'm very comfortable with Chicago and AP styles (MLA, too).
