Jennifer Cantave

Jennifer Cantave – Editor

Publishing professional with a creative writing background. 15 years of in-house experience, specializing in educational materials for kids.

Overview

My background is in creative writing and TESOL. I have over 15 years of experience on editorial teams and have specialized in English Language Teaching (ELT) materials for young learners, with a particular love for literacy development. My skills include concept development, manuscript development, development editing, instructional design, content editing, copywriting, copyediting, and proofreading. I have previously worked in-house at Oxford University Press and Macmillan Education but am now freelance full-time.

My personal style is to make all the words on the page do the best job possible. I like to find a seamlessness in the linguistic, meaning, function, and form aspects of the language used. For works with illustrations and photos, I will ensure that their look and feel support and enhance the text. For fiction, I'll work with you to kick off with a captivating hook, refine a story arc, and if it's for educational purposes, ensure the learning objectives are embedded. I believe in collaborative problem-solving and am always happy to talk through, brainstorm, sketch out, and rework sticky sections when they arise.

I look forward to helping you bring your project to life!
