I'm a copy editor and proofreader with 20 years of experience in the book publishing field. I started out as an editor of reference books, then moved to a production editor of romance and true crime books. After that, I was hired by Fodor's Random House (now Random House Penguin) and was a production editor of travel books, and then transferred to Knopf Publishing Group (also part of Random House). I had experience sending out manuscripts to freelance copy editors, proofreaders, and indexers. I also proofread jacket copy. After leaving my in-house job, I started doing freelance copyediting and proofreading for my old coworkers, as well as for self-publishers.I am most comfortable doing copyediting and proofreading. I use The Chicago Manual of Style, focusing on grammar, but I also point out inconsistencies in the narrative. I enjoy working on both fiction and nonfiction, but I prefer fiction. I love to read new material and learn things that I haven't learned before. I am very thorough and clients will be happy with my work.
