Jason Fowler – Designer

Hey, I’m Jason, a children’s book illustrator and designer. Over the last 6+ years, I’ve worked with dozens of authors and created 7 of my own books as an author-illustrator, so I understand the process from both sides. I spend a lot of time thinking about what makes children’s books actually work—both in my own projects and in the writing I do about self-publishing—which is especially helpful for authors who want their book to really come together.

I specialize in picture books for readers ages 4–8. I grew up loving comic and cartoon art, and that shows up in my work through strong line, expressive characters, and a focus on visual storytelling. I like things to feel alive, clear, and fun to read. I keep my process collaborative and straightforward, with clear communication at every step, and I’m always thinking about how the text and images can support each other to make the story land. I’m especially drawn to stories with humor, warmth, and a sense of adventure.
