Hokyoung Kim – Designer

I am a illustrator that specializes in interior illustrations and book covers. My primary focus is visualizing narratives and capturing the most captivating moments in a story. My work concentrates on characters in an environment, where a strong sense of mood and atmosphere is evoked. I want my viewer and audience to sympathize with the character, to feel what they feel, and be immersed in the scene. I can work in both realistic and more graphic styles, whichever is more suitable to the text.I am currently an editorial illustrator working for major news outlets and magazines such as the New York Times, Buzzfeed, Sierra Magazine, Narratively, A Women's Thing, and Telemedicine Magazine, to name a few. As with novels, I capture the overall atmosphere so that the viewer can understand what the article is about without knowing too much information.
