Heather VenHuizen

Heather VenHuizen – Designer

Experienced cover designer of adult fiction and non-fiction genres. Let's make your book a best-seller!

Overview

I'm a Chicagoland based Designer with several years of experience as an Art Director and Cover Designer for adult fiction and non-fiction imprints. Prior to working in publishing, I worked as a Designer in marketing and advertising; which gives me an edge when it comes to designing book covers that will resonate well with readers. I've worked on covers for several best-selling books, and would love to add your book to that list!

As your designer, it is my goal to create a cover that you will love. I enjoy partnering with authors who have a clear vision of what they want their book to be/look like. I also enjoy the challenge of helping an author to determine what that vision should be. Either way, I appreciate receiving a lot of information about your book (the content, the setting, the main characters, the other books that you feel are good comps) up front so that I can provide you with the best concepts possible.

I chose Heather to design my cover because I love her portfolio, and I knew she would deliver something exceptional. She did. Her design is beautiful and so thoughtfully done, I'd happily work with her again.

Heather is very responsive to my preferences, my timetable, and my novice level of understanding of self-publishing. She has a knack of placing the title over the image that makes it pop but not overpower the landscape background I chose. She is professional and personable. I highly recommend her illustrator skills!

Heather has been so great to work with this past year. I've hired her for 3 covers now, and all three have come out beautifully! She clearly takes pride in her work and is very easy to communicate with. I will definitely be hiring her again for future projects!
