Gabrielle Van Tassel

Gabrielle Van Tassel – Editor

An experienced non-fiction lifestyle editor who specializes in cooking, gift book, travel and outdoors categories.

Overview

For the past 3 years, I have worked at Penguin Random House's premier illustrated non-fiction imprint in New York City. My current position as well as past roles at digital media platforms and a highly acclaimed academic journal have made me an experienced editor with a keen eye for important details, a good nose for audience and voice, and a stickler for deadlines. As someone who has reviewed countless proposals and developed, edited, and published many in-house ideas, I am happy to assist in shaping and forming a concept as well as providing an in-depth editorial review of a proposal and/or first draft. If you have a manuscript in progress I can also provide detailed copyediting services. Having worked directly with authors and agents, my communication style is professional and flexible, but always enthusiastic. I am happy to tailor my style to the author's needs.

I have edited a wide variety of titles from cookbooks and design guides to photography collections and illustrated gift books. I have worked on New York Times bestsellers Half Baked Harvest Super Simple and Bill Cunningham: On The Street and other gorgeous, meaningful projects like Patterns of India, Vibrant and Pure, and Becoming: A Guided Journal. I have had the pleasure of working with bestselling authors like Rachel Ignotofsky, Chuck Klosterman, and Raina Telgemeier as well as major brands, including Marvel, Tiny Atlas Quarterly, Fred Rogers Productions, Dungeons & Dragons, The Infatuation, The Knot, and Buzzfeed Tasty.
