Overview
Post-college, I served as an anti-poverty volunteer for the VISTA program, moved on to working as a messenger for an American Company in Paris, and then gained journalistic experience via early days at the Boston Phoenix weekly, a Wall Street newsletter, deadline newspaper reporting in New Jersey (The Record of Bergen County) and serving as Poetry Clerk at the 92nd St. YMHA in New York, I had a diverse early career, and after starting at Rolling Stone in 1978 was focused on entertainment. Wrote features on a wide array of show business personalities, and was described in one publisher's new release as "the most loved and feared" among such writers.
Signing on to co-author Billy Joel's autobiography began an eight-year evolution that concluded with the publication of a biography-with-cooperation for Crown Archetype books. Currently working with a number of outlets, including a regular column on television for CBS Watch! Magazine.
I greatly enjoy both the interviewing and research phase and the actual writing of profiles, reported pieces, personal stories and book-length projects. If there's something that sets me apart, I believe it's the capability to make such projects something the subject and that person's family and friends can be proud and happy to complete.
