Overview
I am a publishing professional with 6+ years of experience reading and editing mostly fiction. I have worked in editorial at major publishers, as well as at Book of the Month, the country's largest consumer book club. My first love is literary fiction, but through my time at both Atria Books and BOTM I have developed a deep appreciation for and enjoyment of more commercial women's fiction and domestic thrillers.
Throughout my career I have worked with New York Times bestselling authors such as Lisa Jewell, Rebecca Serle, Jamie Ford, and Jennifer Weiner, and at BOTM I have championed the careers of such debut authors as Monica Heisey, Amita Parikh, Amy Lin, and Patric Gagne.
As an editor I like to start with big-picture thinking, asking authors questions about the themes they are grappling with, the shape of their stories, characters' arcs and how their development reflects what the author is trying to say with their book. I have a keen eye for repetition and where novels can be streamlined—what a reader will be able to intuit vs. the smaller emotional details that will bring a character or world to life. Even for less plot-driven literary fiction, I am adamant that every paragraph move the story forward or otherwise explicitly enhance a story, and I love helping authors get to the heart of their work.

Book of the Month
Read and evaluated soon-to-be-published books for Book of the Month across the genres of contemporary fiction, literary fiction, domestic suspense, memoir, and short stories, with some dashes of historical fiction and general narrative nonfiction. I also created our monthly books tracker, which captured all forthcoming titles, and through this developed an even more holistic view of the publishing landscape.
The Black List
Evaluate the first 100 pages of fiction manuscripts for strengths, weaknesses, and marketplace potential within the Black List network.
Atria Books
Assisted an editor of contemporary and literary fiction, as well as thrillers, working with bestselling authors including Jennifer Weiner, Rebecca Serle, Jamie Ford, and Lisa Jewell. Helped review all of my editor's manuscript submissions, and contributed developmental feedback as well as line edits for supplemental material.
Henry Holt
Assisted two editors of nonfiction and provided editorial feedback and reads to other fiction editors at the company.
