Erin Roll

Erin Roll – Editor

Freelance writer, editor, and proofreader with experience working on books for major publishers

Overview

Hi! My name is Erin. I am a freelance writer, editor, and proofreader based in Montclair, NJ. I live on the top floor of a haunted house, I function on copious quantities of caffeine, and I'd like to work with you to make your book be the best it can be.

I moved into freelance editing after working extensively as a journalist. I am open to working on either fiction or nonfiction. To date, I have worked on books for publishers such as Penguin Random House, Quarto, Scholastic, and Little, Brown Young Readers.

Editing should not feel like handing in a paper for school and getting it back with red pen marks all over it and "see me after class" scrawled at the top. You wouldn't like that, and I wouldn't either. Good editing is about the writer and the editor working together to see what looks right and to fix (or fine-tune) the things that could use a little work.
