Erika Koljonen

Erika Koljonen – Editor

Editor. I specialise in upmarket and literary fiction and narrative non-fiction, particularly in pop culture and LGBTQ+ issues.

Overview

I'm an assistant editor at Coronet, an imprint which prides itself in voice-driven and innovative non-fiction and fiction. I've project managed books by DJ Fat Tony, Graham Norton, Sara Cox and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and edited authors like Daisy Jones, Kate Sawyer and Melvin Burgess.

I'm an experienced editor who loves getting stuck in with structural amends, and have a stellar eye for detail with proofreads. My experience ranges from narrative non-fiction and memoir to studies of queer culture and upmarket novels featuring bickering families. In fiction, I do upmarket and literary novels that tackle with the lives of individuals, or are all-encompassing across generations. I've also edited mythological retellings. With these, I've worked on early drafts on which I provide comprehensive notes on suggested edits. In non-fiction, narrative non-fiction and memoir are my favourites, and I've edited non-fiction from early stages (be this proposals or first drafts) all the way to near-finished works. With these, I'll do structural amends on early drafts and line edits on later drafts, depending on what is needed. My editorial style is quite straight to the point, but before we start working together, I like to discuss feedback and editorial styles to see what works best for you!
