Work experience
Self-employed
In 2015, I started Lyrical Editing, a freelance editing and writing business that offers developmental editing, copyediting, proofreading, book proposal writing, manuscript evaluation, and creative consultation. I work with both publishers and independent authors.
Beyond Words/Atria Books (An imprint of Simon & Schuster)
As lead acquisitions editor at Beyond Words, I was mentored by the late Cynthia Black, editor-in-chief, president, and co-founder. Cynthia was editor of such New York Times bestsellers as The Hidden Messages in Water by Dr. Masaru Emoto and The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. I also had the honor to work under the guidance of Judith Curr, founder of Atria Books at Simon & Schuster. At Beyond Words, I acquired, developed, and edited titles whose subjects ranged from inspirational memoir, social psychology, relationships, dating, lifestyle, religion/spirituality, health/wellness, personal growth, and self-help. My titles include a New York Times bestseller and titles reviewed by the Washington Post, Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal, Us Weekly, SELF, Glamour, Kirkus Reviews, Library Journal, Booklist, and Publisher's Weekly.
