Assisting in the Editorial department of the Orchard, Orion and Little, Brown Books for Young Readers imprints. My role includes proof-reading and collating corrections on manuscripts, writing cover copy for new titles, and updating metadata for optimum sales. In addition, I assist editors in the Acquisition process with background research, sales figures and P&L reports. I read manuscripts on submission as part of the editorial team, and I am responsible checking eBooks and making corrections to titles when they reprint. I have worked with authors such as Lauren Child and Giles Andreae, and across series and licensing fiction.

Hachette Children's Group

I assisted the Marketing and Publicity teams in the Hachette Children’s Group by attending and facilitating publicity events, organising and sending out marketing material, and sending out review copies of our books. I was responsible for writing online content and articles for social media outlets such as Twitter, Facebook, and the YA section of the Hachette Children’s website.

I was responsible for researching and writing several articles, which were published in the Independent newspaper in print and online. I conducted several phone interviews, transcribed an interview recorded on Dictaphone, and helped to gather quotes for the ‘Voices’ section of the paper.

Assisting the editorial department at Viking and Hamish Hamilton in non-fiction publishing. I wrote reports on new submissions, negotiated rights and permissions for copyrighted material used in some of the new titles, and aided editors with creating AI sheet information. In doing so, I worked with authors such as Ali Smith and Thomas Piketty.
