Overview
When I receive a book cover brief, I start by diving into the story—reading the synopsis, exploring key themes, and understanding the author’s vision. In our first meeting, I ask focused questions to uncover the emotional tone they want the cover to convey. I then create a mood board to align on visual direction, followed by a few concept drafts that explore different design angles. We review these together, discussing what resonates and refining the chosen direction. From there, I polish the design—fine-tuning typography, layout, and imagery—to create a cover that’s not only visually striking but emotionally connected to the story. It’s a collaborative process from start to finish, driven by shared vision and clear communication.
