I have been working as a freelance literary translator and editor for over 20 years. I have a Doctorate (PhD) in Translation Studies and specialize in humanities nonfiction (art, music, history, essay in general), but have also translated fiction and poetry. My clients have included publishing houses, cultural institutions such as foundations, museums and universities, and authors.
I translate from English, German and French to Italian, and from Italian to English.
The way I work can be summarized in a few key principles:
I take good care of the author's words, and never leave them stranded, but will follow-up until the text is print-ready.
I will be open about any work issues or translation problems that should come up, and immediately inform the author/client about them.
I always seek direct contact with authors and find it incredibly enriching to discuss my translation work with them.
I am always open to suggestions and willing to follow guidelines as much as possible.
I am flexible about schedules, and will accept rescheduling and last-minute or extra requests when possible.
I love to work in a team, and have previously coordinated small groups of translators when addressing larger projects.
