Overview
Now some people may think being so well-rounded and having experience in so many genres and audiences is a bad thing, but I'm not one of those people. The thing that draws me to a project isn't as simple as who reads it or what kind of story it is: it's having an engaging voice, an interesting story, an original way of telling it. It's making me laugh or cry or gasp in surprise. It's the emotional journey and the connection to what's on the page, whatever it may be. It doesn't matter to me what labels are put on it; what matters is what's between the front and back covers.
That's how I edit, too--with passion, emotion, honesty, humor, dedication, personal anecdotes, and so much more. I believe in having good relationships with my authors, as well, and I am very open about who I am and what I can offer. Many of my authors have even become friends over the years, and it brings me great joy anytime I truly can connect with someone. It takes a lot of trust to hand someone a project you've worked so hard on, knowing they are likely going to tear it apart, and it's so important to me that my authors know and trust that I will do everything I can to help make that draft--whatever stage it may be in--the best version of itself. I might tear it apart, it's true, but I do so with love, compassion, and encouragement, and I do it so you can put it back together and make it stronger and more impactful. I want my author's to achieve their dreams, and everything I do is with intention and with that goal in mind.
