Overview
I’m an editor and publishing professional with more than 20 years’ experience across books, magazines and digital publishing.
I specialise in copy-editing and proofreading for non-fiction, with particular expertise in theatre, performance, the arts, music, history, religion and spirituality, folklore, and humanities-related publishing. I also have experience working on playscripts, educational publishing, commercial fiction and academic texts.
Over the course of my career I’ve worked with publishers and organisations including Cambridge University Press, The History Press, Methuen Drama/Bloomsbury, Nick Hern Books and Darton, Longman & Todd. Alongside freelance editorial work, I’ve held senior editorial and publishing roles across arts and culture publishing, including Editor of Drama & Theatre magazine and Senior Publisher, Arts & Culture at AM (Adam Matthew Digital).
Whether I’m proofreading a finished manuscript or copy-editing a complex text, I aim to strengthen clarity, consistency and readability while respecting the integrity of the work.
I’m especially interested in working on:
• theatre and performance books
• plays and scripts
• arts and culture writing
• intelligent non-fiction with a strong voice.
I’m happy to work with independent authors, academics, theatre-makers and publishers alike.
