After graduating with cum laude honors and a degree in writing, I dove headfirst into the exciting world of academic publishing, first working as a production editor and manager of the team of copy editors and proofreaders at Cognella Academic Publishing. I quickly learned everything it takes to publish a book from soup to nuts, coordinating the copy editing, proofreading, proofs/corrections, and more of our university-level textbooks, while communicating and collaborating directly with authors.

I emerged as the de facto point person for all things grammar and style and began working directly with manuscripts in my devoted copy editing role, in which I edit for usage, style, consistency, and voice. I'm well versed in writing that's technical or academic in nature (I've worked directly on more than 500 university-level textbooks and published papers!), so I'm very familiar with the industry-standard styles, including Chicago Manual of Style (17th ed.), American Medical Association (11th ed.), American Psychological Association (7th ed.), and several others.

Having working in a deadline-driven environment my entire career, I can guarantee quick turnaround times—I typically wrap up a 300-page book in 15 business days, for example—while always triple-checking details, such as enforcing correct Merriam Webster's spellings; checking the accuracy of in-text citations, footnotes, and references; and performing a final visual and spelling/grammar check.
