Chris Evans

Chris Evans – Editor

I've worked with New York Times bestsellers in military, history, politics, current conflicts, memoir, sci-fi fantasy, and action thrillers.

Overview

"Working with Chris was an absolute pleasure. My manuscript is far better for it, and so am I as a writer. His insights into writing, as well as the publishing industry, have proved invaluable thus far. I plan on submitting my next book (and those that follow) to Chris." Dan Donato

"Chris was an excellent editor for the whole process. He helped me improve my writing, suggested cuts and additions, and spotted plot problems. He also offered lots of encouragement and positive feedback. I highly recommend him and would definitely use him again." John Winn Miller

I have twenty years' experience in New York City publishing with a focus on history, military history, politics, current affairs and conflicts, memoirs and biographies, as well as fiction including military action thrillers, science fiction, and fantasy. I’ve worked with New York Times bestselling authors including members of Delta Force and the Navy SEALs, Army Rangers made famous in Black Hawk Down, Vietnam veterans including Green Berets, LRRPs, snipers, and a Marine Special Operations commander. I started at Ballantine and Del Rey Books of Random House and went on to create the Stackpole Military History Series with over 200 titles published and over 1,300,000 books in print.

I'm also a published author of both fiction and nonfiction which gives me great insight into the many challenges faced by authors. I've been in your shoes, so I understand, and I'll do my best to help you craft the best book possible.

I have a Masters Degree (with distinction) in History (specializing in Military History), a Combined Honors B.A. in English and History, and an Honors B.A. in Political Science.

I loved working with Chris. He was very responsive and quickly understood the help I needed. He also executed the task in a timely manner and his work was top quality. I have since asked him to help me on a second project. I am most appreciative for his edits and suggestions.

Chris delivered more than what was expected. Even after the collaboration was over, Chris invited me to send a revised query and he responded back with additional info. His comments were much appreciated.

Chris was fantastic to work with. He always provided me with timely responses to everything. You hear horror stories about editors that take over your work as their own. THIS IS NOT Chris’s style. He gently points out areas where you can expand on and things where he thinks it might be better t...

Once again, Chris delivered helpful advice as well as encouragement. I appreciate the honesty of his negative critisicms which helps me believe that the positive feedback and praise is sincere. The assessment was timely and thorough without being overly nitpicky or overwhelming.

Chris gave excellent feedback. He wasn't afraid to offer criticism where warranted and also to identify areas of strength. His expertise and interest aligned well with my techno-thriller genre, and I would recommend him for any similar projects.
