Overview
You did it! You wrote THE END on your novel and now, after months (or years) of working on it, you need some fresh eyes on your project or your query letter.
Now what?
This is where I come in for your commercial fiction projects (including horror, thriller, romance, and more).
I offer:
Editorial Assessments that are designed to give your manuscript a high level look at what’s working and what isn’t. You will be provided with constructive and accessible feedback in the form of an editorial letter (5 to 6 pages) going over the characters, the plot, the emotional themes, and more.
Query Letter Review where I look at your current query letter and help you tweak it. As a Literary Agent myself, I see a lot of queries so the goal is to get your project noticed and to get that full manuscript request!
Why me:
When I was a kid, I used to go to the library, look at all the shelves, and think, "I've got this."
I didn't realize then that books were constantly being released. While I now know that I cannot possibly read them all, my focus has changed. Instead, I am determined to shepherd as many as I can into the world.
One of the things I absolutely love, is working with authors to help them figure out solutions to elevate a project’s potential. I want to assist authors to find solutions that will capture the hearts and minds of readers by asking questions that push them to dig deeper.
I care about each project and the author that compulsively threw their heart into a project to get it to where it is today, and my goal is to get it to where it needs to be tomorrow.
Credentials:
- Over 5 years of official editing experience, with countless years of "helping out" in various workplaces from law firms to media agencies because my drive to elevate a piece of writing kept getting noticed;
- Publishing courses (notably copyediting, substantive editing, and editing for kids) from Toronto Metropolitan University;
- Literary Agency experience! First as an Editorial Assistant, where I read and wrote editorial assessments, and then as a Literary Agent, where I provide my clients with feedback via either editorial assessments or manuscript evaluations as we get their projects ready for submission.
Please note:
My rates are competitive so give this link a gander to ensure our expectations align: https://blog.reedsy.com/guide/editing/cost.
As a Literary Agent, I cannot represent projects that I edit, so I am primarily looking for clients who intend to self-publish or have other literary agents that they're intending to target.
