Overview
I'm an experienced writer and editor of short stories, both in the final and developmental stages. Stories I've edited have been selected for Best American Short Stories 2017, Best American Nonrequired Reading 2018, and PEN America Best Debut Short Stories 2018, among others, and have received honorable mentions in Best American Short Stories 2017 and Best American Short Stories 2018.
My own short stories have appeared in The New Yorker, A Public Space, The Common, and elsewhere, and have been recognized with fellowships from Yaddo, NYU, A Public Space, and Disquiet International. My debut novel, BLUE LIGHT HOURS, is forthcoming in October 2024 from Grove/Atlantic.
I hold a BA in Literature from Bennington College, an MFA in Literary Translation from the University of Iowa, and an MFA in Fiction from New York University, where I was the Fiction Editor of the award-winning journal Washington Square Review and taught creative writing. I've also translated books for Archipelago Books, Europa Editions, New Vessel Press, and more. My translation of Stênio Gardel's THE WORDS THAT REMAIN has recently been shortlisted for the National Book Award.
