Overview
Do you need a book coach who knows exactly what they're talking about? Do you want a writing mentor who's worked in publishing for many years and knows that world inside and out? I’m a bestselling writer and award-winning teacher of writing with decades of experience. I can help fiction writers at any stage of their writing journey, from starting a novel to preparing a short story for publication, to sharing trade secrets about the hidden world of working with publishers to polishing that finished novel for submission to agents.
I'm a writing mentor and editor of emerging writers for literary agency Curtis Brown Creative and others, also delivering masterclasses and being a keynote speaker. I mentor unpublished writers via video meetings, written reports on their work and detailed discussions on how to improve their manuscripts, as well as how to produce the ideal agent or publisher submission package. We can work on short-term one-off contracts, or arrange longer mentoring programmes over 6 months-plus, for example.
Get in touch to discuss what I can offer you. We can create a bespoke programme for you according to your writing needs e.g. an initial 2-hour video call to discuss your novel's structure; reading 10k words of your work plus a 2k-word written report; a 6-month mentoring programme including video meetings, readings of your work and written feedback reports. If you book a longer-term programme, I will offer a decent discount.
Just FYI, my fees are entirely fitting with Reedsy's average fees quoted in this article:

I've 30 years' experience of teaching creative writing, as well as having a Masters in Writing, a PGCE in English and I’m an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Thus I have the breadth and depth of experience in writing, editing and coaching to be your new mentor in crafting your writing to be the best it can be. I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
