I'm an investigative journalist and author of five True Crime titles, the stories of which all happened in South Florida. I have published with Avon Books as well as self-published. One of my titles, Speed Kills, was adapted for a theatrical movie by the same name starring John Travolta, released in theaters in November 2018 and is now streaming; on screen I have a Based on the Book credit, and on IMDb. Ultimately, I am a skilled storyteller. Aside from my reporting and editing expertise that can sharpen a story at any stage, I am most proud of my ability to find and identify underlying themes within stories that authors themselves often don't realize. Our discussion of that is the most fun and sometimes amazing part of the collaboration. You also can’t lose sight that books are entertainment, readers must be invested in your characters and story; every sentence must sing, must surprise, must propel the reader to the next sentence. I’m especially good at what I call Finding the Funny; jokes can get knotted in words, and I like to untwist them. Jokes can be single lines or full ideas, sometimes they're laugh-out-loud but other times they're not humorous at all, they're entirely serious but are still completely unexpected. They're part of the stuff that keeps readers reading. I would be pleased to see your manuscript.
