Andrew Shanahan

Andrew Shanahan – Ghostwriter

I'm an award-winning fiction author who loves to support other writers. I don't do jargon, egos or condescension - just great stories.

Overview

As an award-winning writer with over 20 years of experience in national journalism, copywriting and creative writing. I have successfully published my own work ranging from children's stories to horror and I have ghostwritten several books for clients across various genres, earning thousands of 5-star reviews on Amazon and critical acclaim from major organisations. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of ghostwriting, but I can say that I've written:

- Autobiography of a business leader, who used the manuscript to get published traditionally

- Science-fiction work which was self-published and is regularly in the top 100 Amazon best-sellers for its category

- A number of shorter horror stories for a new series

- Thousands of speeches, blogs and articles across a number of topics

Ultimately though, being a ghostwriter isn't about me. It's about you and your story.

The way I work is to start with a conversation with you, so I can understand who you are, what story you want to tell and how you want to tell it. If I don't think I'm the right person to support you then I'll be honest. If I am, then you can expect me to be excited by the project. You can guarantee that I will deliver to our agreed deadline and I will incorporate all of your feedback at every stage.

I believe that working with a ghostwriter should be fun and it should be creatively satisfying for both of us. So get in touch and let's get started.

Work experience

Self-employed

May, 2018 — Aug, 2018 (3 months)

Working with a CEO of a prominent UK company to help them ghostwrite a book. The process involved several hours of interviews, research and collecting media to support the book, then suggesting a strategy and an editorial outline, writing 100,000 word draft, writing second draft and then publishing. The CEO didn't want to work with a publisher and so we self-published and it has been successful and well-reviewed so far.

Various

Feb, 2008 — Present

Writing speeches for a variety of clients, from business keynote addresses to wedding speeches. Understanding what a client wants is vital for this work and then being able to deliver on their vision.

Self-employed

Jan, 2001 — Apr, 2012 (about 11 years)

Providing high quality articles to one of the UK's largest and best newspapers. Constantly working to tight deadlines and even tighter editorial standards. As well as writing for The Guardian, I have written freelance content for blogs, SEO and articles for a number of organisations.
