Overview
Greetings, writers! So glad you found my profile. My name is Andrea, and I specialize in substantive and developmental editing for nonfiction books. After working in-house for five years at HarperCollins Christian, I ventured out on my own in 2014. Since then, I’ve edited a number of books and even wrote one of my own. I understand the importance of a good, kind editor who doesn’t forget to point out the strengths of your manuscript as well as the weaknesses.
Here's what my editing process looks like:
-First read-through: I read through your entire manuscript, making as few notes as possible. The first read-through is for me to immerse myself in your work and get a feel for the big picture.
-Second read-through and edits: This is when I dive into the nitty gritty. I mark up your manuscript with every big-picture edit, thought, and idea I can think of.
-Editing my edits: On the third read, I go through my own edits. Do I still agree with myself? Yes? No? Even editors need to be edited!
-Editorial letter: I summarize my detailed edits into one letter to help you digest the strengths, weaknesses, and tweaks that can be worked out to make your book the best it can be.
If this sounds helpful to you, I’d love to work together.
