Ambar Galan – Designer

Hiya! I am an international freelance typographer specialising in print design such as books (covers & text) and magazines. I focus on the nitty gritty of complex typography and enjoy collaborating with my network of illustrators, photographers, programmers and font designers & developers. I hold a BA in Graphic Design and an MA in Book Design.
I worked 4 years in a large magazine company in Mexico City as Graphic Co-editor on various magazines, designing page layouts and directing some fashion photoshoots. I then joined the book publishing world in London working as a text designer on various imprints for Pan Macmillan Publishing for 2.5 years. I've freelanced in between but have recently gone full-time to be able to focus on different creative jobs and travel around, settling in Frankfurt for now but easily being able to move around Europe for work. I am currently helping an independent book publisher (Ikygai Editorial) and an independent theatre production company (unrelated to each other) start up in Mexico City as their head designer.
I also enjoy writing and have been co-author to two design books published by Flame Tree Publishing in London. I am bi-lingual in English and Spanish but have also a basic understanding of French and German. I look forward to working with authors and designers and helping their creative visions come to life.
