Overview
Hello!
I'm a Designer and Art Director for many years. Prior to establishing myself as a freelance book designer in 2019, I worked as a designer and art director for some stablished kids’ publishers like "Capstone" and "The Creative Company" (Amicus).
Before that for 14 years I was a marketing designer.
Yes, I'm that old but I'm also super cool, trendy and extremely tech savvy!
I was born in Rio (Brazil), studied in Milano (Italy), moved to US in 1993 and LOVE the winters in Minnesota where I currently live with my husband and three big nordic dogs.
Living in different countries and learning different cultures gave me a global source of inspiration.
I’m known for being patient and caring about the books I work, I’m always willing to guide first time authors from manuscript to final files.
Services:
Cover and interior layout design and typesetting for print and digital formats, project management and consulting. *****I’m specialized in kids illustrated books but I can create any book from simple text to more complex versions.***** Please ask for adult book samples.
• Art Direction: I can art direct your illustrator during the project through you. Or I can provide an initial layout with print specs and spacing for text so you can make make decisions with your illustrator. I recommend getting a professional artist with experience in publishing.
• Ebooks: I create ebooks in ePub format to fully utilize the font choice and font size options on the device used.
• Project management on my end means I manage the raw book materials from design to press-ready. I deliver the finished book files ready to upload to your company of choice.
• Marketing design: I can create 3Ds of the book and ebook for social media at no charge. For more advertising materials you will need to specify what those are in order to get an accurate quote. I can create ads, banners, posters, flyers, stickers, or any other print or digital material for your book promotion.
Before making an accurate offer I will need to know if your book is text-only or has any specific formatting requirements such as charts, illustrations/photos, footnotes, endnotes, indexes or other things of that nature.
Looking forward working with you!

What software and tools are commonly used by book cover designers to create professional-quality designs?
I use Adobe products like InDesign, Photoshop and/or Illustrator.
Photoshop and Illustrator for the images creation, manipulation and composition. Then I use InDesign for layout and typesetting.
How do you keep up with industry trends?
What common mistakes do authors make when designing their book cover, and how can they avoid them?
Trying to tell the whole book story on the cover. The cover needs to be simple and eye catching. The design style, like fonts colors and images, will give the hint of the story and attract the reader. Then let the blurb explain the story.
