Overview

I am Tjarda Borsboom, a freelance illustrator from Nijmegen, the Netherlands. I always loved to draw, ever since I was a little girl. I have been illustrating freelance for almost 5 years and I have clients all over the globe. My jobs are very divers, I do still make greeting cards, but I also do quite a lot editorial jobs, for example for a toddler magazine. I also illustrated a few picture books. 'The first illustrated Thesaurus' for Usborne, a book for Londons transport Museum (the London Bus Model book), a book for the Dutch Heart Foundation, and last year I've made a book for children about dog language. I love to work digital in Adobe Illustrator, so my work is mostly vector based. Still it is quite complex, I love to work with textures and a lot of details. I am inspired by colorful things and nature.

Work experience

Freelance illustrator

Self-employed
October, 2012 – Present (over 6 years)

I am a 100% freelance illustrator since 2013.
Before I also did freelance illustration work, beside my day job. For over 10 years my job was Desktop-publisher, which is very useful as I still know all about delivering good printable files (certified PDF files). I've worked a lot in Adobe InDesign and still am able to design and edit books, magazines, flyers etc.
Currently I mostly work in Adobe Illustrator, and also provide vector based (layered) files.
