Skip Press – Editor

All-around writer, editor, ghostwriter, screenwriter, teacher, with clients, students, fans all over the world. Constant five-star ratings.

Overview

I've made a living in many media roles: editor, ghostwriter, instructor, playwright, screenwriter, and TV staff writer. I've had many books traditionally published about how to make it as a writer or screenwriter. More than one of those books are known worldwide. I don't just write them; I get others published. For example, as an editor and packager, I put together The Ultimate Guide to Video Game Writing & Design, which is the "bible" for beginning writer/creators in the game industry.

I've edited as many books for others as I've had published on my own. Check out the audiobook American Dog on Amazon that I edited as a novel, produced as an audiobook, and did all the voices including the canine narrator.

I co-founded the Ask A Screenwriter "space" on Quora which grew from zero to over 600,000 followers after one year. Now I'm concentrating on my own books, and so I quit giving free advice there but I answer emails constantly about how to succeed as a writer.

NOTE: All books listed in my portfolio that have no tag is because I wrote or ghost-wrote them.

I help people on Reedsy on occasion because it's a great site and service.

Working with Skip meant I went from an unfinished 1st draft to a completed first draft with a solid idea of how to fix in the redraft. Skip was informative, experienced and interesting. He had great anecdotes, valuable wisdom and a calm, easy-going manner. I really appreciated getting to work with him and hope to do so again in the future.

Working with Fleur is great because she's a seasoned pro in the film and TV business and I didn't have to convince her that some standard and proven story ideas were valuable. She's written a scrip...

Skip's insights into shaping my screenplay were invaluable. Both his development suggestions and detailed edits were smart and thoughtful, coming from decades of industry experience and relationships. Skip was responsive, enjoyable to work with, and committed to getting my project into shape, regardless of the many necessary back-and-forths. I look forward to the next phase of getting my screen...

Anthony had a very bold project - writing a first-time screenplay that can sell. A sale like that rarely happens. However, he listened to my advice and mastered what is normally a first-time screen...

It would be remiss if I didn’t thank Skip P. for the outstanding work editing my stage play. He also gave important advice that made the story more poignant. I would highly recommend using Skip to make your work all that it can be!

Skip provided lots of feedback that I could put to use in my next draft. Professional and friendly attitude. Couldn't have asked for more.

I'm glad Frank found my comments helpful. He's one of the best storytellers I've come across in all m years of editing.
