Skip Press – Editor

All-around writer, editor, ghostwriter, screenwriter, teacher, with clients, students, fans all over the world. Constant five-star ratings.

Overview

I've made a living in many media roles: editor, ghostwriter, instructor, playwright, screenwriter, and TV staff writer. I've had many books traditionally published about how to make it as a writer or screenwriter. More than one of those books are known worldwide. I don't just write them; I get others published. For example, as an editor and packager, I put together The Ultimate Guide to Video Game Writing & Design, which is the "bible" for beginning writer/creators in the game industry.

I've edited as many books for others as I've had published on my own. Check out the audiobook American Dog on Amazon that I edited as a novel, produced as an audiobook, and did all the voices including the canine narrator.

I co-founded the Ask A Screenwriter "space" on Quora which grew from zero to over 600,000 followers after one year. Now I'm concentrating on my own books, and so I quit giving free advice there but I answer emails constantly about how to succeed as a writer.

NOTE: All books listed in my portfolio that have no tag is because I wrote or ghost-wrote them.

I help people on Reedsy on occasion because it's a great site and service.

Irina's too kind. The main thing was, she wrote a compelling page-turner story that I can see getting publishet quickly. it was a pleasure to work with her both times.

Skip was fantastic. His combination of encouragement combined with brutal honesty of what changes needed to be made was exactly what I needed. He also went way over and beyond of what I asked for help with. Would highly recommend Skip to everyone!

In what circumstances should an author consider adding a prologue to their book?

Here's the definition of a prologue with regard to a novel - An introduction or introductory chapter, as to a novel. Many classic novels, particularly those narrated by characters in the story, set the scene and tone of the book in the way some prologues intend to do. Sometimes a single line or ...
