Overview
No joke, I started in book publishing when I was 9 years old. (Okay, I was stuffing envelopes.) My career path took me from editing books, to reporting news, writing books, managing a publishing house, working with young, inexperienced reporters as a news editor and editing B2B magazines, helping writers translate highly technical gobbledygook into something people without Ph.D.s can understand.
I make the editing process an enjoyable collaboration and never impose my style on my authors. Don’t worry about getting your manuscript plopped back on your desk as a fait accompli. The best book comes from ongoing communication. “What about this?” “Maybe this is a better approach.” As an added bonus, I am practically OCD about fact-checking. But wait, you might wonder, is that necessary in a historical novel? You betcha it is. You don’t want your hero zipping up his jacket in 1890 when zippers weren’t invented until 1925.
