Dr Rachel G – Editor

A critically acclaimed author, writing coach, and editor with a PhD, MA, and BA in Creative Writing and excellent testimonials.

Overview

Hi there,

I'm Rachel, an editor, writing coach, and author.

Editor:

I've been editing in my business for almost five years, but before that, I earned a PhD, MA, and BA in Creative Writing, completed various editing courses, and lectured at universities and heritage homes worldwide. Lecturing and teaching always includes editing skills, and I'm proud of my testimonials. I've helped many writers go from idea to publication in all of its forms. There are many editors in the world, so if you're in the market for one, here's more about how I work:

- I edit genres across the board, but there are a few that aren't for me. If you're unsure, feel free to send me a message.

- I believe writing is a form of art, is subjective, and that creative writing craft skills can be taught. That means that I don't subscribe to using strict structures for narratives.

- I mix coaching with editing in my work so that you can work through changes alongside me.

- I'm a supportive editor who gives skills-based feedback with examples. I don't do tough love!

Writing Coach:

I trained as a coach via an ICF-accredited company, and by earning an ILM Level 2. That aside, I've taken all sorts of relevant courses, from safeguarding adults online to unconscious bias and embedding equality in teaching and learning. Working with authors on something as personal as their writing is not something I take lightly. Coaching is a serious business, and when you're working with me, I offer empathy, flexibility, and feedback that both improves your writing and lifts you up. I also have my own writing coach, but I don't know where I would be without one! It truly is magical having someone hold space for you to talk about your creative work. Amazing things happen during that time.

If you want to achieve your goal of being a writer, you are in the right place. I can help you go from page to print with my three fantastic packages that meet you where you are as a writer. Whether you are in 'The Beginning', 'The Middle', or at 'The End', my mix of coaching, tutoring, and editing will leave you with a draft to be proud of.

Author:

I'm the author of six novels (three traditionally published, the third of which comes out 1st September!), and an extensive portfolio of poetry, articles, and short stories. I write about strong women finding their voice and surviving in a patriarchal society. Whatever I write, that's always the core theme. My main characters are usually flawed, make difficult and sometimes bad decisions, and share my love of large animals.

Note: My favourite books to work on are fantasy, magical realism, literary fiction, thrillers, women's fiction. I don't work on horror, erotica, or general non-fiction. I'm not the best editor for high levels of spice. If you're unsure, feel free to ask.
