Natalie Caswell – Editor

As a copy-editor and proofreader, I have filled various roles in publishing and engaged with myriad texts, mainly exam review materials and Christian fiction and non-fiction. At the Ohio State University, I earned a degree in English literature, media, and pop culture. I am passionate about education and good storytelling, and I enjoy combing through the snags and errors of a text so the writing can shine from the page. I started as a freelance proofreader for Barbour Publishing, where I worked with spiritual texts such as devotionals, religious short stories, Christian romance, and children’s activity books for three years. I reviewed the texts for grammatical and stylistic errors and fact-checked the information against source materials. I also created or filled out indexes to increase reader usability. This work was the final step to prepare these texts for publication. Recently, I was an editorial assistant at EduMind, Inc., helping prepare exam review guide materials for professional advancement in engineering and architecture. Here I proofread front matter and chapters for grammatical and stylistic errors, including text, figures, and tables of contents, and copy-edited practice problems to correct sentence structure and increase readability. While editing, I have used both Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat. In addition to these roles, I have also worked as an acquisitions assistant for the Ohio State University Press, and proofreader/fact checker at CityScene Magazine, so I am familiar with the publishing and media world. I am passionate about education, so I love engaging with academic materials that will change the life of a professional or student. I have copy-edited and/or proofread educational materials, Christian fiction, romance, short stories, non-fiction, and more! I enjoy polishing a writer's work so that it can have the greatest impact in the hands of future readers.
