Matt Price

Matt Price – Editor

Emmy Award winning TV writer with over twenty years of experience. Loves funny stories about music, sports, and fascinating people.

Overview

Hello! My name is Matt, and I have over twenty years experience writing in TV and film, as well as some print journalism. As an editor on Reedsy, I have worked with authors from many different genres. From YA novels to personal essay collections, from screenplays to satirical graphic novels, I love all kinds of storytelling. My background is mainly in comedy. Whether you're the bass player for an international rock band or a funeral director, a few well-placed funny lines can go a long way in getting readers invested in your story (especially if you're a funeral director).

For the past ten years, I've written primarily in animation, including recent stints as Supervising Producer for "Final Space" on Adult Swim and for "Close Enough" on HBOMax. I co-developed "Close Enough" with J.G. Quintel and two other producers before they sold the pitch in the room to TBS. Prior to that, I worked for The Cartoon Network on several shows, most notably "Regular Show" for which I won an Emmy Award (and was nominated for five more). I wrote on all 262 episodes of the award-winning "Regular Show," and I was promoted to head writer in the third season. I also co-wrote the story for "Regular Show: The Movie." I have worked in development at many other animation studios and international production companies, including Nickelodeon and PinkFong.

I've written on many live action shows as well, including Comedy Central’s "Root of All Evil" with Lewis Black. I have also co-developed several sitcoms with NBC and Conan O’Brien’s production company Conaco.

In addition to TV writing, I've been published in many magazines, including ESPN, Paste and L.A. Magazine. I also used to curate a storytelling show at the UCB Theatre in Los Angeles where I would edit and help craft personal essays for authors and comedians.

I look forward to working with you and helping you take your project to the next level.

Matt went above and beyond with responding to my brief. The feedback he provided was steeped with insights and suggestions that can only come from solid experience, and he delivered the feedback in a professional and friendly manner. As a result, rather than feeling overwhelmed with the work I have yet to do, I feel enthusiastic and energized. Can’t thank you enough, Matt! I need more stars on...

Mark was fantastic to work with. If you know your writing is good, and I'm sure it is, but you need that last extra special something - anything - to take it the the level that you KNOW it should be, then stop everything you're doing and hire Matt right now. Talented, professional and cool... you'll read your draft after he's collaborated with you and say, "Wow I'M REALLY GOOD!!"

Matt provided super helpful insight and actionable feedback on my graphic novel script. His developmental edit covered big-picture story, character assessment and tracking tone consistency. He also provided specific suggestions that would help add depth to my character and pull the curtain back on them for my audience. Matt didn't hold back in pinpointing areas he found as a strength and sprink...

Working with Matt was a pleasure! His work delivered exactly what was expected and quite a bit more. Matt clearly cares about the craft of writing, story telling, character development and on-time delivery. His deliverable was careful, concise, supportive and positive yet also unyielding in noting where things could be better. I’m a part-time writer on my first novel and Matt was an enormous...
