Marguerite Avery

Marguerite Avery – Editor

A seasoned book editor bridging the gap between arts and sciences, nature and technology; experienced with memoir and creative nonfiction.

Overview

Books are my life. I have over 20 years of publishing editorial experience focused on list and program development, and content and project development for books both print and digital. ~ Every author has a story to tell in a book: be it a cathartic memoir, a photo essay, or original research on a new technology. As an editor, my job is to connect with the author to find this story, and to help bring it to the page. ~ While I place a primacy on words and writing, I hold a book’s interior design in almost equal regard. I strongly believe in the power of images to convey concepts, down to the most minute detail as these are often the elements that bring a book into its own. ~ I’m also experienced with print and digital marketing campaigns that connect with known audiences and ferreting out new ones. ~ I have experience with ghostwriting but would never share the details. ~ I hold a Masters in Library and Information Science (MLIS), and have completed graduate masters coursework in Gender History. ~ My latest hobby is researching classification systems for historical informational pamphlets and starting a used bookstore of eccentric titles.
