Lucy Vilankulu – Editor

Experienced copy editor and proofreader with publishing, agency and direct-author experience.

Overview

I'm a copy editor and proofreader based in Minneapolis, MN. Experience with fiction and nonfiction ranging from paranormal romance to annual reports. Eleven years of working with occult publisher Llewellyn Worldwide grounded me in both alternative spirituality and "genre" fiction like romance, YA, supernatural, mystery and memoir, while work with ad agencies, journals and newsletters gave me experience with articles, ad copy and legal. Recent projects include a book about Somatic Abolitionism, a book about poetry and hope, a guide to the sutras of Buddha for beginners, a novel and a medical memoir.

I usually work with publishers, book agents and established writers but I have worked with many a first manuscript.

I set my price using Reedsy's self-publishing cost calculator, so have a look before asking me to bid: https://blog.reedsy.com/guide/how-to-self-publish-a-book/cost-to-self-publish/. I don't double- or triple-book projects, so your project will get my undivided attention.

This was a wonderful experience. Her willingness to give me fair and constructive feedback while providing high professionalism was great. I was also impressed by her willingness to explore the topic beyond what I wrote in my book, this enabled her to take a more objective look at my work. All said, Lucy was always professional and communicated well with me throughout the entire process. I will...

I am very thankful and appreciative of Lucy's editing help. I found some uncorrected errors in my writing that had not been corrected, but I fixed them. Otherwise, I was TRULY grateful for her answering technical questions when I had to print out the final pages. She guided me throughout the process and when I texted her about questions pertaining to the novella, she immediately responded. I wo...

I appreciated Lucy working with my budget. We worked in two parts. She gave me good initial feedback, plus answered my specific questions so that I was able to send her the next draft with a clearer direction and with stronger added or polished scenes. Lucy communicated with me well. I appreciated her time and feedback. I would work with her again.
