Overview
As an award-winning novelist of both contemporary fiction for adults and middle-grade fiction, I also bring 14 years of traditional publishing experience to the table. I’ve held several positions at Tyndale House Publishers, including over a decade of editorial assessment with the Fiction Acquisitions team where I assess manuscripts and proposals from agents and write occasional marketing copy.
I earned my MFA in creative writing from Rainier Writers Workshop. My novel-writing experience and eye for strong dramatic stories, fresh characters, and unique plotlines will translate into solid help for clients, in addition to my knowledge of potential book marketability.
As an author, I understand the need for gentle but accurate critiques and the right for the author to tell the story they envision. I would provide solid advice for fleshing out their novel.
Personally, I love character-driven novels like A Man Called Ove and Olive Kitteridge. My two favorite books are Home by Marilyn Robinson and Peace Like a River by Leif Enger. My own novels include The Forgotten Life of Eva Gordon, winner of the Christy Award for First Novel, and Hotel Oscar Mike Echo, a middle-grade novel and finalist for the Christianity Today Book Award for Young Adults.
