Kjirsten Walden

Kjirsten Walden – Editor

A passionate Deaf author/editor with nearly a decade of experience in fantasy and young adult fiction, as well as research publishing.

Overview

I am an editor who is passionate about writing and helping others with their own writing, making it as perfect as the author wants it to be. I specialize in editing (and writing) historical fiction, young adult fiction, and mythology-based projects. I can edit, proofread, and help with research. I am the owner of an online editing company. With an Associates and Bachelors of Arts in English degrees (which focused on editing and publishing), I designed, edited, and published three arts journals through my university, as well as having an internship with the University Press of Mississippi.

I am currently finishing a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing through Southern New Hampshire University. As of August 2022, I will have my degree.

As a writer myself, I understand the importance of keeping the author’s writing style and spirit throughout editing—which is why I will work with you to the best of my ability to achieve that. In my own writing, I like to write about mythology, history, and fantasy, as well as Young Adult Fiction that handles real-life problems. When working with an author on their project, I want to keep your own voice and style--in a way that is concise, clear, informative, entertaining--and however you want your writing to come across. I like to communicate often, eagerly, and clearly when working with an author. I hope you want the same experience.

(Books in the Portfolio section are books I helped edit and format as part of a team of editors, which are currently published. There are many projects that I helped edit or solely edited that were personal projects for people and never published.)

Kjirsten was kind, understanding, and thorough while editing. Our project is my first novel, and Kjirsten was able to answer all my questions and walk me through the correct format and grammar while also commenting on the story itself. Any idea I had, Kjirsten was patient and answered any questions and gave extremely helpful feedback to ideas and concerns. I can't wait to work on our next proj...
