Hello! I'm a Children's Books designer, with a passion for illustrated fiction. Please get in touch if you are interested in my work.
I graduated from the University of Brighton in 2009 with a BA hons in Graphic Design. During my studies I developed a strong interest in print design and bookbinding. After graduating I moved to Tokyo to have a bit of an adventure, whist working as a freelance designer. After this exciting two-year chapter I moved back to London to begin a career in publishing, and started working as a Children's Fiction Designer for a reputable publishing house. I design and develop Young Fiction and Young Adult titles, working on the covers as well as the interiors. I really enjoy the creative side of my job and I often design the branding and style guides for new series, as well as developing some best-selling brands. I also produce marketing material and work on apps and micro sites. Furthermore, I am trained in CircularFLO, which allows me to create fixed-format ebooks. I enjoy the combination of creating digital and printed matter, and I am always keen to work on different projects.
Currently I am working as a Designer at Stripes, where my role mainly involves designing and developing high quality covers and interiors for a range of young fiction and YA titles.
- Assisting the fiction team in all aspects of the design process, producing and developing a range of allocated titles across Egmont Press.
- Building brands for well-known authors, such as Michael Morpurgo and Enid Blyton.
- Managing the reprint list, insuring that all titles are updated to given deadlines.
- Sourcing and commissioning illustrators.
Designing booklets for a company based in Tokyo who hold creative workshops for children, run by artists and designers from across the globe.
Graphic Design internship for Tokyo based design studio specialising in print design.
- Gaining experience in print design and brand identity.
- Work included designing Liberty’s Christmas card and working on their monthly internal newspaper.

Jesse put up with a lot of perfectionism on my part. He also has some very creative design ideas. He doesn't have the experience I needed for the design of a book interior or a book jacket, though. I had to have the finishing touches done by someone else.

Jesse is a dream to work with. She really helped me to push my work in another, much improved direction and the process has been very collaborative. She has good ideas, is conscientious and always communicates in a timely, friendly and professional manner. She is extremely patient. Jesse is great to work with for a number of reasons. First and foremost, the quality of her work is what brought me back for a second project, and it's why I'll be working with her again. Second, she better than professional: She's friendly and enjoyable to communicate with. Third, she works quickly and if ever there was a delay, I knew about it ahead of time. That's worth a LOT in my book and ...
