Jamie Evans – Editor

As both an editor and writer, I understand how it feels to be on the receiving end of feedback. That's why I offer a friendly approach to editing, both to help you shape up your writing, and also to help you learn.

I was previously the in-house editor at The Knight Agency, where I worked on adult romance, and I am now the associate managing editor at Peachtree Publishing and Holiday House, working on children's and YA titles. Imprints I've worked closely with include Peachtree Teen, Neal Porter Books, and Pixel+Ink.

I offer introductory edits (of the first 5,000 words of your manuscript), editorial assessments (great if you're not sure what your early draft needs), developmental editing (a more in-depth look at the manuscript and specific elements), copyediting (the next step after larger edits to clean up at the sentence level), and proofreading (the final review done on a typeset PDF).

Please note: I am not the best fit for fantasy, novels in verse, or nonfiction.

I am a writer of kidlit and hold an MFA in Writing for Children & Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts. I also have a certificate from the Columbia Publishing Course and a BA in creative writing from Emory University.
