Heather Schroder

Heather Schroder – Editor

Developmental editor for NYTimes bestselling authors with over 25 years experience in professional trade publishing.

Overview

I am a NYT bestselling developmental editor and agent with over 25 years in professional trade publishing where I have worked with numerous authors to turn their book ideas into published realities. I specialize in both literary and commercial fiction as well as narrative nonfiction, history, food, wellness, business and memoir. For the majority of my career, I have been a literary agent, where I have launched numerous bestsellers, including the iconic Sex and The City, The Disaster Artist and The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I've also worked to build brands from the ground up, including Food52 and What Would Virginia Woolf Do? In addition, many of my projects have been turned into successful television series and feature films, including the international bestseller, The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind and Billy Lynn's Long Half-Time Walk.

With my training as an agent, I have a highly developed sense of how to shape ideas and material into salable manuscripts and proposals, and I know what makes a project shine for book editors and for readers. I have devoted my professional life to helping authors find their voice and their audience and I genuinely love the process of shaping a piece of writing to make it the best it can be.
