Experienced university press editor in children's, history, and fiction titles with a Master's in Publishing.
Manage, edit, and prepare approximately 15-20 manuscripts from acquisitions to pre-production each year. In charge of developing a diverse list of regional titles with diverse authors. Conceive of new book ideas, establish and maintain author collaborations, and solicit new proposals and manuscripts. Travel for academic and trade conferences, make professional contacts, cultivate new book prospects, and stay abreast of key developments in relevant fields. Present new titles for consideration at the twice-yearly advisory board meetings. Collaborate with all UA Press staff on new, current, and old projects. Perform all duties associated with the successful management of a list such as: reviewing all submissions, working with potential and current authors, editing and developing manuscripts under a timeline, overseeing the formal peer review process, prepping materials for board meetings, data-entry for marketing materials, etc. Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students through the UA Press internship program.
I work with authors on developmental edits, fact-checking, line edits, and proofread to prepare manuscripts for publication; either through a publisher or self-published.
