Hey! I’m Denise. I am a book lover from Puerto Rico with a BA in English and an MA in Book Publishing. I have pretty much dedicated my life to reading and making books.
It’s pretty cool.
I’ve worked on nonfiction and fiction books in English and Spanish across different genres, targeting diverse audiences and markets. In all my editorial work, story elements, grammar, language, accuracy, and sensitivity all carry equal weight. I aim to ask questions and provide thoughtful comments, offer specific examples and possible solutions, and work with you to identify and address your concerns.
As a native-level English and Spanish speaker, I also edit and review Spanish text for accuracy and readbility, from full translations to bilingual books.

Penguin Random House
As a Bilingual Copy Editor, my responsibilities include copyediting and proofreading books! I work with children's books from board books to YA in English and Spanish.
Self-employed
As a freelancer, I provide various services. Among them are Copyediting and Proofreading in English and Spanish, along with authenticity reading/reviews.
A Kids Book About
As the editor, I took part in each of the editorial stages which included: Developmental Editing/Editorial Assessment, Copyediting, and Proofreading.
Ooligan Press
As the Design Manager at Ooligan Press, I ran the design department which included working with the Managing Editor to create and enforce a production timeline for every one of our titles, typesetting, and Proofreading for print and ebook, among many others.

As a part of the Outreach and Project Development team, I aided in the development of manuscripts with the potential to be acquired by the press. This involved a lot of Editorial Assessment and Developmental Editing as well as other editorial tasks such as Copyediting and Proofreading.
