Overview
I am a senior editor at two imprints at Simon & Schuster, where I specialize in children's literature, specifically fiction (while occasionally dabbling in non-fiction) within picture books, chapter books, middle grade, young adult, and graphic novels. I have edited multiple New York Times bestsellers and many of my books have garnered starred reviews, landed on Best of Lists, been JLG gold standard selections and Indie Next Picks!
In addition to being an editor, I am an author of MG and YA novels. This dual perspective provides nuanced feedback when evaluating query letters and book coaching. I tend to be honest with my notes and advice to best set you up for long term success, whether that be traditional or indie publishing. This goes beyond coaching a single book. Career planning is essential for your publishing goals!
While I specialize in children's literature, I have also developed and edited adult genre fiction as well. Regardless of age range, I tend to focus on speculative, fantasy-lite, epic fantasy, romantasy, science fiction, magical realism, thriller, psychological suspense, horror and mystery.
My editorial style spotlights the positive and offers feedback on areas of improvement. I deep dive on the big picture, plot structure/framework, and overall vision as well as smaller scale scene and character development.
Please note, if you're planning to pursue traditional publishing and would like me to consider your novel, it's best to not hire me on here.
Looking forward to aiding you on your publishing journey!
