Overview
I started off my book publishing career in production at a publishing services company, followed by several years at I.B.Tauris, a small publisher for both academic and commercial markets that looked to bridge the gap between the two, before finishing up as a senior editor within the natural history imprint at Bloomsbury. With a decade of in-house experience behind me, and now several years into freelancing, I appreciate what I need to bring to each project, adding value and giving in-house teams and authors peace of mind when I’m entrusted with their work.
Reflecting my in-house roles and academic background in history and environmental science, the majority of my work is across history, politics, current affairs, economics, the environment and natural history, with additional interests/experience in travel, sport and the outdoors, and memoir and autobiography. I'm passionate about making stories and ideas across these subject areas accessible to a general audience.
Recent clients include Ebury and Penguin Press (divisions of Penguin Random House), Octopus (a division of Hachette UK), Yale University Press, Verso Books and Faber. I work with small and large presses, as well as independent authors who are looking to either approach a traditional publisher or self-publish.
