Ben Gardiner – Designer

Experienced graphic designer producing books across fiction and nonfiction for Penguin, 4th Estate, Octopus, Orion and HarperCollins

Overview

I worked at HarperCollins London for 4 years in which I learnt so much and was fortunate to work across a lot of the film tie in publishing such as the Movie Guide and Visual Companion for the three The Hobbit films (also got a sneaky invite to the London premier which was a dream come true for a closet nerd like me) and also I went to Spain to press pass the titles as we had 16 co-editions on one of the titles and 12 on the other.I also worked on a lot of pop culture titles such as the One Direction books.Following my 4 years I went freelance but continued to work for HarperCollins being pulled in to help with the Fantastic Beasts film publishing.Over the 3 years to date I’ve been freelancing for Penguin imprints such as Ebury, Virgin and Pop Press. And have worked for Orion Publishing, Octopus Publishing and also with 4th Estate for 6 months as a sort of perm-a-lancer going in house a few days a week to work on covers.
