Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book to my 5yr old son. As a Kenyan married to an American, my son enjoyed the links between Africa and the West illustrated by Norm's Kenyan background and reference to Fairy Godmother (which we do not believe in, as Norm aptly says). The best part was seeing my son and my wife guess what animal represented what ability the Fairy Godmother talked about...I say this because the author picked animals that would normally not be associated with that ability i.e. to say a Gazelle is faster than a Cheater sounds out of the norm. But that is the beauty. That metaphor glorifies the main subtext (in my opinion) of this tale. It is a great book that celebrates diversity and inclusion. I highly recommend it to anyone, and specially to third culture kids.
