I enjoy fast-paced novels with complex plots ala Gillian Flynn or Marisha Pessl, high-concept women's fiction, unique horror that explores deeper issues like Jon Cohn's Slashtag or Paul Tremblay's A Head Full of Ghosts, most horror-comedy mashups, medical themes, and pretty much anything that features strong characters with well-defined arcs or that ends on a high note (aka feel good fiction). I don't prefer books about characters who do not overcome adverse circumstances or deep reflections on bad relationships and/or domestic violence. Also, no animals must be harmed in the telling of any story.☺
