@stephaniealbright Wow, you're probably right. And that got me thinking. If @danielekasper6292 is just after badges and the top spot on the monthly review list, then of course she's going to speed through novels without actually properly reading them. What that means is her review is going to be extremely poor, so anyone who sees it and then reads the book will know that she completely lacks any understanding of what she "reviewed". So, what did she do? Rated us 2-stars, knowing that her review wouldn't be published, yet she still gets the credit for reviewing us, granting her badges and renown without the backlash of having her reviews picked apart. Of course, she ruins our book Discovery in the process, but people like her obviously only care about themselves, so I doubt she lost a wink of sleep. Probably laughs about it when she closes her eyes.

@stephaniealbright Glad to hear that your book's doing well. My genre is so rare that I knew no reviewers here would truly understand it, but I didn't expect the review I got to actually HATE fantasy/adventure. I mean, why pick a book when you don't even like the genre? Leaves me with no faith in whatever system Reedsy uses to pair reviewers and books. I looked at our reviewer's past reviews and found some hilarious stuff. She rated Animal Farm 1-star. Freaking ANIMAL FARM, a book that's required reading in most schools because of how important the ideas represented in it are. She also rated Dune and 1984 as 2-star--two more well-beloved classics. She has no taste, or at least no understanding of complex storytelling.

@stephaniealbright I hate to break this to you, but you're in the same boat as me thanks to the reviewer who gave both of us 2-star reviews without understanding our novels in the slightest. You see, Reedsy buries all books that receive below a 3-star rating, so neither of our books are showing up on their Discovery list. In essence, we paid $50 for nothing. Oh well, I'm done with Reedsy so I don't really care, but thought you'd like to know.

@danielekasper6292 I'm sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy the novel. It's a very niche genre, so perhaps a more traditional site like reedsy isn't a good fit for it. The only thing I will say is that my my target audience did in fact love the book. It's currently a #1 Best Seller in one of its categories with great reviews by readers who are eagerly awaiting volume 2. At its peak, it reached #6,665 in the Kindle store, which I'm very happy with considering this is not only the first book I've published, but also the first book I've ever written. Thanks for taking the time to read it and I hope your next review is more to your liking.
About me
I'm a fledgling author who simply decided one day that I wanted to get the story out of my head and onto paper. This book series is a passion project, but I'd love to share it with others who enjoy the genre or perhaps even introduce this type of book to a new audience.
