Book Review -On the Waterfront Budd Schulberg wrote the well-known book "On the Waterfront" in 1955. It follows the tale of Terry Malloy, a former boxer who now works as a docker on New Jersey docks that are run by dishonest union officials. Terry is forced to face the harsh truth of his life because he is torn between his devotion to the union head and his developing conscience. The conflict between personal integrity and group corruption is vividly shown in the book. The brutal and gritty docks environment and the complicated characters that live there are vividly and evocatively brought to life by Schulberg's prose. There is a lot of suspense and dramatic tension in the plot, which is well-written and advances quickly.
